A 17-year-old teenager has been arrested and remains in pretrial detention since Monday night after stabbing his father to death in Brittany, in northwestern France, and spreading the scene on social networks, reports a judicial source.

On Saturday night, the teenager called the gendarmes to inform them that “he had just killed his father with a knife in the family home” in Ploeren, Vannes prosecutor François Touron said in a press release.

The victim's body “had multiple stab wounds” and his son was arrested “in a severe state of alcoholism”. “The investigation made it possible to establish that he had consumed alcohol at a party before going to the family home where his father had lived alone for several weeks,” the prosecutor detailed.. “Arriving at the scene, he seized two kitchen knives and woke up his father, who was sleeping in his room, before stabbing him.”

Immediately after the events, the young man “spread a video of the crime scene on social media to 40 recipients,” Touron said.. The gendarmes “mobilized to remove this video from social networks” and a “psychological support unit” was set up for the recipients of this video and their parents.

The teenager “explained that he wanted to put an end to his father's aggressive and violent behavior in a context of alcoholism and the suffering that this behavior caused his family,” added the prosecutor, who indicated that a criminal investigation had been launched on last May 12 as a result of a complaint for domestic violence by the wife of the victim and mother of the suspect.

“This investigation was ongoing, the wife and their two children had left the marital home,” the prosecutor stressed.

The suspect has been prosecuted by a Lorient investigating judge for “intentional homicide against a legitimate or natural ancestor” and “dissemination of images related to the commission of a crime of intentional damage to the integrity of the person”, the prosecutor said. by LorientStéphane Kellenberger. The young man is in provisional prison.
