At least one injured by the explosion of a truck with oxygen cylinders in Milan

At least one person has been injured as a result of a powerful explosion that shook the center of Milan this Thursday morning and which allegedly originated from a truck carrying oxygen cylinders. It is about the driver, who, although he has been able to get out on time, has injuries to his hands and legs.

The explosion occurred on Pier Lombardo street, in the central area of Porta Romana, at around 11:30 local time (9:30 GMT) and, according to some witnesses, the explosion and fire started from a van carrying oxygen cylinders, probably bound for the nearby Italian Auxological Institute, as reported by Il Corriere della Sera.

The fire also involved four cars and some motorcycles parked on the street, a nearby pharmacy, and a few floors up the narrow street..

Given the danger that the smoke could reach the school, the nursery school in nearby Vasari was evacuated without problems.

The fire was controlled in just over half an hour after the arrival of several fire trucks.
