Borrell warns Putin that there will be no fatigue in supporting Ukraine: "We don't want it to be another Belarus"

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, sent a message this Friday to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Twenty-seven will not withdraw their support for Ukraine, insisting that the bloc will not allow Ukraine to become a country in the orbit of Moscow as Belarus.

“I want to send a clear message to Putin. There is not and will not be tired. We will continue to support Ukraine as much as it needs it and for as long as it is necessary,” the head of community diplomacy reiterated after the informal meeting of foreign ministers in Stockholm.

In this sense, he regretted that the Russian president has no intention of abandoning his goal of “subjugating” Ukraine and continuing to “bomb, attack and destroy” the country.. For all these reasons, he has defended that the EU will continue to give priority military, political, economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine.

“Russia does not want to stop fighting and Ukraine cannot stop fighting. If you want to continue to exist as a nation, you can't stop,” he said of the Ukrainian Army that receives military aid from the EU and the United States.

Regarding the prospect of peace negotiations, Borrell has insisted that any initiative has to go through the conditions set by the Ukrainians and has defined President Volodímir Zelenski's formula as “the only comprehensive framework” for a “just” peace.

“We want peace, but we want a capitulation,” he said of the Russian military operations, to underline that Ukraine has to survive as an independent and sovereign nation.. “We don't want Ukraine to become another Belarus,” he argued, referring to Alexander Lukashenko's regime's ties to the Kremlin.
