A shooting has left at least five people wounded, three of them seriously, in the French town of Villerupt (Meurthe-et-Moselle) and in a neighboring town of Moselle, not far from the Luxembourg border.

A hooded man fired shots from a vehicle before fleeing, explained Guillaume Petitclair, first deputy mayor of the town of Villerupt.

“There are four wounded, two of them seriously, and one has just been transferred by helicopter by the emergency services,” he added. “They are three young men and a young woman, who are probably between 15 and 20 years old.”

According to a close source, this shooting could be related to drug trafficking, which the investigation will have to determine to confirm. Fifteen police officers were sent as reinforcements from Nancy and Metz to secure the premises, in addition to investigators.
