“America has no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests”. The phrase of Henry Kissinger (a German Jew who came to the US at the age of 15 with his family fleeing from Nazi lynching, thus saving himself from the Holocaust) is an example of realism in international politics.

Paradoxically, it is also an example that there is no exception without a rule.. Because American politics can swing. Washington, like any great power, is capable of abandoning
