The Israeli Government has criticized the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg for her latest message on X, formerly Twitter, in support of the Palestinian population and has reproached her for “Hamas does not use sustainable materials for its rockets.”
“Week 270. Today we express our solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. The world must speak out and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all affected civilians.. #FreePalestine #ImWithPalestine #WeareWithGaza,” says Thunberg's message.
The text is accompanied by a photograph in which Thunberg herself appears holding a sign with the slogan “We stand with Gaza.”. Three other people appear with signs with the phrases “Free Palestine”, “Climate justice now!” and “This Jewess is with Palestine.”
The Israeli Government has responded from its official account on X alleging that “Greta Thunberg, Hamas does not use sustainable materials for the rockets that have MASSACRED innocent Israelis. The victims of the Hamas massacre could have been your friends. Speaks”. In the message there are three photographs of two women and a 19-year-old man who died in the Hamas attack.
Other users of the social network have highlighted that Thunberg has supported the Palestinians, not Hamas, or have reproached Israel for “playing the victim card.”
However, other voices such as that of the anti-Semitism commissioner of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Michael Blume, have criticized Thunberg's message as “dualistic, false and that trivializes terrorism.”. Blume has denounced the “widespread anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism” in the Fridays for Future movement led by Thunberg.
