The world of cinema allows us to recreate the universe we want almost anywhere in the world, but sometimes, the terrain itself helps and becomes another element in the work.
The filming locations are also a constant source of curiosities and also function as tourist attractions for fans of the films filmed.
Now, an interactive map called CineMapper has been created that reveals locations around the world where famous movie scenes were filmed.
Tim Hughes, the map's creator, told the Daily Mail: “There are 318 movies, TV shows and video games, and we're adding almost 100 new locations a week.”
Hughes was inspired to create it in 2021 after making a post about filming locations on TikTok. “I create online content about movies (@whoshughes) and in a TikTok I covered Star Wars locations you can visit in the UK,” he explained.
“This TikTok reached over a million views, so I turned it into a TikTok series and eventually made a Google map to document them. Two years later, my web app developer friend Izzy said he could help me turn it into a proper web application,” he adds.
“We started sharing CineMapper and it went semi-viral again!” adds the digital creator.
For now, there are not many locations in Spain: the Bank of Spain in Madrid (La casa de papel) or the Plaza de España in Seville (Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens) stand out, among others.
