This afternoon the kings received at the Alhambra the heads of state and government attending the summit of the European Political Community, whom they will entertain with a dinner in this same enclave, a world heritage site.. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia were received upon their arrival at the Alhambra by the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his wife, Begoña Gómez, in the Partal Gardens.
Sánchez and his wife have been in charge of welcoming the attendees in advance in the Arrayanes patio, the axis of the Comares Palace, which has a 34-meter-long central pool and whose long sides stand two large hedges of myrtle, which gives its name to this space.
Later, in the Courtyard of the Lions, the kings greeted the international leaders and their companions, with whom they took the traditional family photo of the summit, which was attended by nearly fifty leaders from the European continent.
After the family photo, the leaders were able to attend a flamenco show by the singer Marina Heredia and, later, enjoy a cocktail at the Parador, which is located on the grounds of the monumental complex, with an Andalusian menu by the Cordoban chef -two Michelin stars- Paco Morales.
The dinner on the occasion of the Granada summit was attended, among others, by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, as well as the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
The EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, was also present, who, like many other attendees, took the opportunity to photograph and take photographs in this architectural jewel, which is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its declaration as a National Monument.
The French president, Emmanuel Macron; the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz; the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni; or the Prime Minister of Portugal, Antonio Costa, have also attended the reception.
Who did not stay for dinner is the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, who left the Alhambra after holding a meeting with Felipe VI.
