The Brazilian prisoner who escaped from a Pennsylvania (USA) prison at the end of August, Danelo Cavalcante, who had Chester County in suspense, was captured this Wednesday in an operation in which the use of firearms was not necessary , according to the Local Police.

Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens, of the Pennsylvania State Police, detailed in a press conference that the fugitive was apprehended this Wednesday morning, around 8:00 a.m. (2:00 p.m. Spanish time), after being surrounded by police officers.

The final capture operation began on Tuesday night, after the burglar alarm at a house near Priser Road allowed agents to narrow the search perimeter. A helicopter detected the presence of a heat source, but due to a storm it could not continue operating.

This Wednesday, in daylight, the fugitive was detected again, who presumably spent several hours hiding in the undergrowth and tried to escape by crawling, until a police dog caught him. “He continued to resist, but was forcibly detained. “No one was hurt, he just suffered a minor injury in a fight, but we had medical personnel on scene and they examined him,” Bivens explained.

Cavalcante will be transferred this Wednesday to a prison where he will have to serve the life sentence to which he was sentenced for killing his girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, in April 2021 in the house they shared.. In the images offered by the media he could be seen handcuffed, with his hands behind his back before being placed in a police van.

His case has raised great expectations among the media and has kept Chester County in suspense for a few days in which he has been seen on several occasions.. On Sunday he stole a gun from a citizen who tried to confront him. “We were deeply concerned after the suspect stole the gun, but he was detained this morning without shots being fired,” Pennsylvania Governor Josh Saphiro, a Democrat, said at the press conference.

“I want to thank the professionals in charge of enforcing the law who leave their homes every day and leave their families to keep us safe,” he noted about the operation in which more than half a thousand troops from different police forces have participated. .
