The Russian Freedom Legion paramilitary group defended this Friday the armed struggle against the Kremlin. The group has stated that for “a long time” there has no longer been the possibility of changing power peacefully and, therefore, they will continue their operations in Russian towns that border Ukraine.

In this way, a deputy commander of this ultranationalist group with links to the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, known as César, has expressed himself.. “We are citizens of Russia with the right to return to our homeland with weapons in hand,” he said.

“Freedom of expression and the possibility of peacefully changing power have not existed for a long time.”. We know that we have many supporters and their number increases every day,” he said, who has assured that his incursions into the Russian city of Belgorod are continuous, although they are not always promoted.

“Operations will continue. “We will constantly harass the Russian troops, the troops of the aggressor, to reduce the pressure on the common front, to allow our brothers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to fulfill the tasks assigned to them,” he said.

Likewise, he has pointed out that “many have already realized the uselessness” and how “unjust” this war is being” and that the only thing stopping them from surrendering is retaliation.. “The process will be much faster when they know they can point their bayonets at the Kremlin,” he said.

In the summer of 2023, the actions of paramilitary groups such as the Russian Freedom Legion or the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) were felt in Russian regions close to the border with Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Kursk, or Bryansk. kyiv has distanced itself from them and assures that both groups are organizations formed by “Russian partisans” who support Ukrainian forces and who are against President Vladimir Putin.
