The US Armed Forces find the remains of the missing F-35 fighter
The US Armed Forces. This Monday they found the remains of an F-35 fighter that suffered an accident near a military base in Charleston, in the state of South Carolina.
Military officials, along with local authorities, located the remains about “two hours northeast” of the base, which serves air and naval forces, according to authorities in a statement.
The reasons for the “incident” with the F-35 fighter are still “under investigation,” the statement said, and the authorities did not provide more details to “preserve the integrity” of the investigations.
Military authorities reported the F-35 fighter jet missing Sunday afternoon after the pilot had to eject from the aircraft and was transferred to a local medical center.
The person piloting the fighter ejected “safely” from the aircraft on Sunday afternoon, when authorities reported the incident and reported the aircraft missing.
The pilot was taken to a local hospital that same day and is in “stable” condition, authorities reported at the time.
The plane, an F-35B Lightning II jet, was stationed at an air base in Beaufort, also in South Carolina, and was part of a squadron tasked with training pilots.
