Wagner's boss claims that Russian troops in Bakhmut have retreated five kilometers

INTERNATIONAL

The head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeni Prigozhin, has confirmed that Russian troops have retreated a total of five kilometers from territory in Bakhmut after the Ministry of Defense has reported that Russian units have carried out “a non-tactical withdrawal” towards a line from the most advantageous front.

According to Prigozhin, the troops have made a withdrawal of at least five kilometers, after which the Ukrainian troops have occupied “tactical heights” from which the city can be seen “at a glance” and has assured that the flanks “are crumbling” .

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense has specified in a statement that, “in order to increase the stability of the defense”, the units occupied “the line in the direction of Maloliinovsk”, according to the Tass news agency.

This occurs after Ukraine has assured that its Armed Forces have managed to advance two kilometers on the Bakhmut front, the epicenter of some fighting in which the Russian authorities, on the other hand, assure that they continue to resist.

Public criticism of Prigozhin, whose mercenaries fight on the side of the Kremlin, has contributed to fueling doubts about the true potential of the Russian forces, regarding ammunition supplies or the lack of ability to break through Ukraine's defensive barriers.
