Russia shoots down 11 Ukrainian drones near Crimea and another two aimed at Moscow
The Russian Defense Ministry has said its forces had shot down 11 Ukrainian drones near the annexed Crimean peninsula and two others aimed at the capital, Moscow.
“Two UAVs flying in the direction of the city of Moscow were destroyed,” the ministry said.
“Near the city of Sevastopol (in Crimea), two UAVs were hit by anti-aircraft defense teams and another nine were suppressed by means of electronic warfare,” it added.
A Russian rocket attack on Wednesday killed two people and wounded at least seven others in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia, Ukrainian authorities said.
Although regional governor Yuriy Malashko initially said three people had been killed in the attack on a residential area, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko later reported that two people had been killed and a third had been revived.
The city is located about 50 kilometers northeast of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which has been occupied by Russian forces since the first weeks of the war.. The fall of projectiles in the surroundings of the plant has raised fears that a nuclear accident could occur.
