Martín dies, the 8-year-old boy who was fighting aggressive brain cancer: "Fly high like a Charizard"

A tireless fighter has left, a warrior, an example for all. Little Martín, just eight years old, has died after his heroic fight against brain cancer. Eight months ago he was diagnosed with a diffuse midline glioma with the H3 QM27 mutation, a tumor with a 1% survival rate and a median life expectancy of 12 months.

His mother Isabel Muelas, another fighter, has not stopped fighting for the Administration to invest in research to try to make Martín the last child to succumb to this disease, a very aggressive, fast-growing cancer that appears in children between 5 and 10 years and of which 30 cases are diagnosed in Spain each year.

It was his brother Rafa, who shared the little boy's day-to-day life on his Instagram account and who started several collections of signatures to request investment for research, who broke the tragic news.

Rafa could not better define Martín's courage in the post in which he says goodbye to his “hero”, his “bug”, his “treasure”. “Fly high like a Charizard. Like the dragon you've always been. Leave the weight with us and go to the place where only the best are. The best coach in the world. my best coach. My dream. My happiness. Rest my life that you have earned it,” he writes with a broken heart.

“You have left everything here everything. You have taught us the greatest thing in the world: love, innocence, desire, simplicity. You have gone in peace, calm and with everyone by the hand. We know that your example and fight will help others like you.. to those who will come. because you are already eternal. You are already gloating with those who are forever. I love you my life”, continues Rafa.

But despite the fatal outcome, Rafa continues and will continue to fight for the children who, like his brother, are hopeless due to a disease that is not being investigated.. “I'm sorry. I swear I thought we'd make it. I swear I thought that with all this I could give you an alternative. But we're late. Or we don't arrive. I'm so sorry my dragon. But I promise you that this will not fall on deaf ears.. Your tete promises you that your name will be among the greatest. Martin Alvarez Muelas. The child who gave everything for others”, says Rafa goodbye.

Little Marín with his mother. LOANED FAMILY

Just a few days ago, Martín received a visit from one of his idols, Frank Cuesta.. That happy day, those two happy hours, gave Martin a dream and his family a smile when they saw that the little boy was able to enjoy himself and show his stickers to the person he admired.

But Rafa does not intend to throw in the towel and pointing to Health and the President of the Government in his publication, he affirms that “they do not want letters offering condolences”. “One more death while you look the other way. 25 years of death in silence”, ends his publication.
